Little Cayman
Little Cayman: A Caribbean Hidden Gem
Little Cayman is the smallest and least populated of the three Cayman Islands, with just 160 residents on this 10-mile-long island where almost everything sits at sea level. First sighted by Christopher Columbus in 1503, the island is now world-renowned for Bloody Bay Wall—consistently ranked among the planet's top dive sites for its dramatic vertical drop beginning at just 18 feet.
Beyond diving, Little Cayman is a nature sanctuary hosting the Caribbean's largest red-footed booby population at the Ramsar-protected Booby Pond, plus 2,000 critically endangered rock iguanas that roam freely (watch for those crossing signs!). The island's charm extends to Owen Island, a tiny private islet open to visitors, and the unique Tarpon Lake, where ocean fish have adapted to landlocked life.
With no venomous animals, one grocery store, a two-man police force, and a school enrollment in single digits, Little Cayman offers an authentic escape where the biggest decision is whether to dive the north or south side—and that usually depends on the weather.
